FAQ Frequently Asked Questions

I tried to list questions that clients have asked me over the years as well as my answers. If I haven’t covered what’s on your mind, please contact me with your question or comment.

Why don’t you charge a monthly fee?
Normally monthly fees associated with your website cover web hosting and/or website maintenance. I include free website hosting for the first year for each website I build. (Renewal is $50.00 per year or 12 months) I’ve found that after the first couple months of website tweaking my clients do not have routine changes to their websites so I only charge you when you need my help. That seems more fair. Typically, changes range from gratis for very simple very quick changes to $25.00 to rework an entire page. I do not charge for text changes during the first 30 days your website is live allowing you time to tweak your content.

Will my website include my own domain name?
Yes, your website includes your own domain name. Just as important you will own your domain name. If you don’t have a domain name registered, I will register it for you then transfer ownership to you. That’s important. No one else, including your webmaster, should own your domain name. Eliminate the potential for conflict by owning your own domain name. If you don’t have a domain name, the cost of initial registration is included. If you already own a domain name, the cost of modifying the nameservers is included.

To a degree. Search Engine Optimization is often misunderstood. There are SEO specialist who limit their work to search engine optimization. Some charge thousands a year for their services. In some ways they are Internet PR specialists, finding places to post links to and information about your site.
